Permanently Replace Missing Teeth

Dental implants are the gold standard for tooth replacement, and for good reason. They replace the entire tooth, even below the gumline, so you can enjoy a healthier, more comfortable smile.

Dental implants offer a durable, natural-looking option to restore your smile and support your oral health. When a tooth is missing, it is not just the appearance of your smile that changes; issues like jaw discomfort, shifting teeth, and gradual bone loss can begin to develop over time. Dental implants help protect against these concerns by acting as a strong, stable replacement that blends seamlessly with your natural teeth.

At Lifetime Dental, we take a unique, holistic approach to dental implants by prioritising your overall well-being and empowering you with the knowledge to care for your oral health long-term. To us, a successful implant procedure does more than just close a gap, it also assists with chewing and speech, supports your natural facial structure and helps bring back a confident smile.

Our Prahran dentists will guide you through every step of the process, ensuring you feel comfortable and informed about your treatment options and how they benefit your health.

Our Holistic Approach to Dental Implants

We view dental implants as more than just a fix for missing teeth; they are a way to help restore balance and harmony to your oral health and overall well-being.

When teeth are missing, the surrounding teeth can shift or weaken, which often impacts your bite alignment. Implants offer a stable, biocompatible solution that integrates naturally with your jaw, helping to preserve bone health and support facial symmetry.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Dental implants offer a reliable, natural-looking solution for missing teeth that restores your smile and supports your oral health. You can even use them to replace one, several or all of your teeth. Here are three key benefits that make implants an excellent choice.
Permanent and Durable
Unlike removable dentures or bridges, which can shift or slip in the mouth, dental implants are a permanent fixture. The implant post fuses with your jawbone, providing a strong, stable foundation that can last a lifetime with proper care.
Natural Appearance and Comfort
Implants are custom-made to blend seamlessly with your existing teeth, giving you a natural look that’s practically indistinguishable from the real thing. Plus, because they’re securely anchored, implants feel and function just like natural teeth.
Supports Jawbone Health
When a tooth is lost, the jawbone can begin to deteriorate due to a lack of stimulation. Dental implants help prevent this bone loss by mimicking the role of a natural tooth root, keeping the jawbone strong and maintaining facial structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many patients consider dental implants their smile’s ‘forever’ solution. Dental implants can last a lifetime, especially when you take good care of them. Here’s how it works: the actual implant—a tiny titanium post—is placed in your jawbone, where it fuses with the bone to create a rock-solid foundation. This is the part that can truly last forever.

The crown that tops the implant might need a little TLC down the line, but they usually last about 10-15 years before they might need replacing, simply due to the normal wear and tear that comes with daily life. However, with regular check-ups, good brushing habits and regular flossing, you can keep your implant and crown in great shape for the long haul.

Another tip for making your dental implants last is to avoid smoking and biting down on hard foods.

Our Dental Implant Procedure

The dental implant process at Lifetime Dental involves the following:

  • Initial Consultation: We perform an exam with x-rays and imaging to determine your jawbone density and candidacy for an implant.
  • First Visit: Under local or general anaesthetic, we’ll remove any remaining parts of the missing tooth and insert the post—a small screw-like piece that’s placed into your jawbone. Over time, this post will fuse with the surrounding bone and become a stable part of your jaw.
  • Second Visit: After healing, we’ll place a custom-made porcelain crown or bridge on top once the post has fused with your jawbone. Shaped to match your surrounding teeth, the implant is virtually indistinguishable from a natural tooth.
